2020 Australian Ambassador’s Award for Women in Leadership

This award is designed to celebrate and honour a woman who not only inspires others but has also proven herself a leader in her field. 

Opened to female alumni only, nominees may come from any sector, including business, government, non-profit and academia and should have demonstrated a commitment to the Australia-China community in China.

All nominees should have made significant strides and accomplishments in their work life, either in the public or private sector.

Deputy Director and Researcher/Professor of the women and children’s health monitoring department of China Women and Health Centre of China CDC

As the deputy director and principle researcher for the Health Monitoring Department of China CDC’s National Women and Children’s Health Centre, Dr Di Jiangli has been an influential leader on protecting and promoting women’s health. She has designed, coordinated and implemented many significant large-scale national and international programs to advance women’s health, particularly for women from impoverished rural areas. For example, she has led “the National Cervical and Breast Cancer Control Program for Rural Areas”, the “National Women and Children’s Health Surveillance Program”, and the “Comprehensive Intervention for Maternal Anaemia for UNICEF”. She has been chief investigator for 28 national and international research projects leading to the development of over 30 national policies, guidelines and training materials on women’s health. Each has had far-reaching implications for women’s health. Di has published over 30 papers, 13 edited books, and served as an executive and editorial board member of 12 national government and professional committees. For her outstanding achievements, she has received eight awards. The most notable recent achievement is her contribution to planning and to the effective executing of successful COVID-19 response strategies in not one but three outbreak centres in Wuhan, Beijing and Xinjiang consecutively.

作为中国疾病预防控制中心妇幼保健中心妇幼健康监测室副主任，狄江丽组织实施了许多重大的国家级和国际大型项目和应用研究。例如 “中国农村妇女宫颈癌和乳腺癌检查项目”“中国妇幼健康监测项目”“联合国儿基会孕产妇贫血干预研究”等。作为第一或通讯作者发表中英文文章30篇，参与编辑书籍13本，作为国家级专家主要参与执笔的国家级相关政策文件、技术报告和培训教材等30余个。今年新冠肺炎爆发后，她积极参与到武汉、北京和新疆的一线抗疫工作中。由于她在提高中国妇女健康方面做出的重要贡献，她获得了国家卫健委和中国疾控中心等部门颁发的多项奖励。

Mrs. Mei has 10 years profound experience in China senior living with 5 years management role leading a team from 10 persons to more than 200 persons in three high-end senior living communities and multiple operational consultation projects. Working with her team, Mrs Mei made Merrill Gardens into one of the most well-known and premium senior living brands in China. As a pioneer in localising the American Independent Living and Assisted Living model, practicing medical care integrated with senior living; and creating innovative senior living investment models. Mrs. Mei is a very respected model in China ‘s senior living industry. She is the Standing Director of  the International Federation of Finance & Real Estate, and a Senior Technical Consultant for Zhiku Aged Care Research Institute, a Senior Consultant for Guangdong Elderly-Care Services Association. She is also a key member in the Amcham talking to the government about senior care standards and senior living supporting policies. Mrs. Mei continues to contribute to the improvement of Chinese seniors’ retirement life and  a better environment for foreign enterprises to take up  senior living businesses in China.

Mrs. Mei serves as a member of Women’s Leadership in  the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to share her growth and development as a women leader in the ULI and inspires young women to step up with solid professional knowledge and a resolute character. She is also a mentor of ACCESS Health International, an international non-profit organization to help new entrepreneurs to develop and be innovative in the senior living industry.

梅雪艳是国际金融地产联盟常务理事，上海养老智库产业投资高级顾问专家，广东省养老服务业协会高级顾问专家，艾社康摩登乐龄项目导师，中国中医药学会康养分会会员，是政府制定多项养老规范和标准的专家组成员。梅女士也是美国商会的活跃成员，多次参与大型中美养老产业论坛，分享国外先进的养老运营和服务经验。

Ms Yim has over 20 years’ experience in the entertainment industry and is a highly influential leader in her field.  

Throughout her professional career, Ms Yim has worked towards promoting original Chinese content globally, through the production, marketing and distribution of mainland Chinese drama series and Greater Chinese films to the world. She has also worked to support and develop local creative talents in the entertainment industry – she recently led the launch of the first Fox Creative Lab in Asia, with the aim of cultivating new talent in Taiwan.  

In 2016 and 2017, Ms Yim was included in Variety’s Power of Women LA Impact Report alongside fellow female leaders in the entertainment industry. In the Report, Ms Yim was singled out for leading her team to develop local and regional content that speaks to a global audience. The Report also highlighted Ms Yim’s ground breaking work as an executive, noting that Ms Yim led on the development of a number of projects at a scale that had never before been seen in Asia.   

Ms Yim’s contributions as an executive and industry leader as well as a producer have helped to shape the film and television industry in China and beyond over the last decade, and she is a sought after and respected expert in the industry.
