Australia China Alumni Award for the Arts and Creative Industries

This award recognises alumni who have achieved excellence in the Arts and Creative sectors and/or whose efforts promote the understanding and value of artistic and creative endeavours. 

It seeks to recognize creativity and success in one or more of a variety of fields, including art and design, architecture, fashion design, literature, music, performing arts, advertising, publishing and the creative media.

A nominee should have a demonstrated ability to use their creative skills in new and innovative ways, perhaps by working across creative mediums, combining or introducing new concepts into the field, and/or introducing creative concepts into new/unique markets.

Mei Ping is the CEO of Greater China for Australian Fashion Labels’ (AFL), an innovative fast contemporary fashion and apparel business, which holds five in-house labels: C/MEO Collective, Finders Keepers, Keepsake, The Fifth, and Jaggar, along with an omni-channel multi-brand retail platform BNKR. Mei Ping is responsible for AFL’s overall presence in Greater China and Singapore including the strategy, operations, business development and brand management of the region’s wholesale and e-commerce business.

  

Mei Ping has over 14 years of experience in fashion retail, marketing, strategy, distribution and finance. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, she has been based in China for over 11 years now, with direct experience navigating the rapidly developing local fashion retail environment.  Prior to Australian Fashion Labels she ran her own consultancy and was Account Director of a Chinese agency leading clients such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Y-3, Adidas x Tom Dixon, MO&Co. and various fashion trade platforms.

Mr Billy Ip

Billy Ip is an Interior Designer with over 15 years’ experience in the design and delivery of award-winning lifestyle projects throughout Asia, Australia and the Middle

East. Billy joined world-leading design studio Woods Bagot in Asia in 2006, where he has since established himself as one of the region’s most widely recognised names in design innovation in integrated branded and lifestyle environments. Now a Principal, he currently leads Woods Bagot’s retail team across China and is responsible for the creative direction and successful delivery of multiple high-profile projects.

Billy is frequently recognised for his work – he was a recipient of Perspective Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Award for architecture/interiors, and the Visual Merchandising and Store Design (VMSD) Designer Dozen award which celebrates the best and brightest young designers. Billy is also a sought-after expert contributor to design and property industry conferences in Australia and Asia.

Billy remains connected to RMIT and is passionate about raising RMIT’s profile internationally, providing opportunities for RMIT students to undertake Work Integrated Learning placements, and fostering employment pathways for RMIT graduates with Woods Bagot in Asia. Billy also frequently volunteers his time and expertise as a speaker at RMIT events in Asia and in Australia.

Mr Jeromy Lim

In 2017 Jeromy started a new brand under FILA China called FILA FUSION. In two short years, Jeromy with his team opened 200 stores, and over achieved their sales and business targets.

In the first year of business Jeromy with his team made 2.4B RMB and in the second year they are on track to make 13.7B RMB with a projected earning of 25 Billion RMB in our third year. Jeromy built a team of designers and developers starting from himself and now the team has over 20 people producing collections 1.5 years ahead of time.

Mr Longping Zhao
    ARTEXB’s Founder, General Manager, Artistic Director, 360°VR Photographer

Graduated from the Accounting Faculty at Macquarie University in 2005, Derek started his work in the contemporary art industry in 2009. He joined Beijing Today Art Group in 2011, and served as the Deputy General Manager at Today Digital Art Museum in 2014. During this period, he led the team to accomplish the Chinese National Project of Culture and Technology Promotion Program, so called as “Research and Demonstration of Digital Museum Public Service Platform”.

In 2016, he founded ARTEXB Inc. and Artexb.com, aiming to document and promote Chinese Contemporary Art and its exhibitions via 360°VR. He hopes to bring a way of seeing art exhibitions online for audiences around the world.

So far, he has visited more than 20 cities around the world to shoot exhibitions, and served more than 50 museums and galleries, as well as over 80 important artists and curators. In the past three years, he and his team have shot 158 high-quality exhibitions at home and abroad, 75 of which have been launched on Artexb.com.

In August 2019, ARTEXB was shortlisted for the Digital Innovation in Art Award in London.
