Australia China Alumni Award for the Arts and Creative Industries
This award recognises alumni who have achieved excellence in the Arts and Creative sectors and/or whose efforts promote the understanding and value of artistic and creative endeavours. It seeks to recognize creativity and success in one or more of a variety of fields, including art and design, architecture, fashion design, literature, music, performing arts, advertising, publishing and the creative media. A nominee should have a demonstrated ability to use their creative skills in new and innovative ways, perhaps by working across creative mediums, combining or introducing new concepts into the field, and/or introducing creative concepts into new/unique markets. I am an Australian living in Shanghai for 24 years. Most people know me as the first foreign TV host in China, and as host of the popular TV show “You Are the Chef” aired on International Channel Shanghai, with over 6 million viewers daily for the past 20 years. I am the only foreigner to date, to be given the license to host live broadcast on national TV, and have completed up to $2 million in sales in ninety minutes. I am a consultant and strategist, for companies and brands entering the China market to help them effectively sell and connect with the consumer, so they can grow and profit with confidence. I am a regular guest on a variety of national TV shows, partnered with Alibaba, and have been interviewed by Australian Financial Review, Courier Mail, ABC News and Harper’s Bazaar. I work regularly with government bodies such as Shanghai Government, Shanghai Women’s Association, UK Trade, Austrade, Austcham Shanghai. An award-winning marketing and brand communications strategist, Ken has held a number of senior roles from corporate consulting to public affairs advisory for leading multinational and conglomerates. He was formerly the head of marketing at Atkins, one of the world’s largest engineering and design consultancies. He was also recently the marketing head for the 145-year-old design practice, Leigh & Orange. A popular keynote speaker, lecturer and columnist, Ken is a regular contributor on the subject of Architecture, Design and Branding. He is also the author of two best-selling titles, “Life Hacks” and “Growth Hacks”. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Arts from RMIT University, and a MBA from the University of South Australia. He is also a Qualified Accountant and Member of the Institute of Public Accountants, Australia. |

Anna is an experienced Producer/Production Stage Manager. Her 20-year work history spans Asia Pacific, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. She has worked for companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Franco Dragone Entertainment Group, Christie Digital Systems and The Sydney Opera House. Anna was an integral part of the research and development, training and formation, creation and operation of the 250 million dollar aquatic show, The House of Dancing Water in Macau, China. She also maintained the daily operations of this complex show as the head of Stage Management for 7 years. Anna has been employed on over 70 shows in the areas of concerts, arena events, corporate events, trade shows, musical theatre, plays, dance, circus, outdoor festivals and mega shows. Anna holds a honours degree in Design for Theatre and Television and is also the Co-Founder and Managing Director for TheatreArtLife, an online platform for entertainment industry professionals. |
